Is there a reason why indicators turn acids to warm colors and bases to cool ones? any indicators that don't?

Using pH paper, blue/red litmus paper, and cabbage juice as indicators, I noticed that all the acids became warm colors (like red, orange, pink, etc) and the bases became cool colors (like green, blue, purple, etc). Is there any reason why this is? Are there indicators that do the opposite? I asked my science teacher this, and she asked another, but neither knew.
