What areas in the U.S. are generally more liberal leaning?

I ask because the particular region I live in is full of a bunch of rednecks that don't like me and talk bad about me wherever I go even going as far as to threaten me with physical harm if I don't embrace their way of life. I need a place to escape to and live so that I can be myself without having to look over my shoulder all the time for some hick jack that wants to coerce people into their way of life that involves nothing other than pickup trucks and manual labor. I'm sick of these idiots! Please if there is anyone out there who is in a similar trap of a situation please help with your advise, especially if you've lived through something like this! I need to live among like minded people before I go insane. I have bared nothing but crap from the people of this town solely because of the way I think and what I value and I can't take it anymore! Please where can I go?!
