What lesson you learned from your parents has made the most impact on you?

I know when I was a teenager I didh't think my parents knew anything, but as an adult, I have found that I learned a lot from my parents. I am wondering if most parents impart the same lessons or if the disparity in lessons is what could be a root cause of moral decay.
